Before I got fully into my business career I was a high-performance track and field athlete, and also back then I realized how important my sports equipment was, at the same time a jogger. There were these comfortable shoes, socks, shorts, and jersey – it all mattered, you would be surprised. Even previously those shoes, shorts, and shirts weren’t produced in the USA, but that wasn’t likely to stop me. Okay so, let’s talk, given it seems to me not very much has changed since that time, and this was 20 years ago.
You see, recently, there is a piece inside the Wall Street Journal on July 20, 2012, which asked; “Does It Matter China Made the US Olympic Uniforms,” by John Bussey, which discussed the media sensation brouhaha within the not “produced in America” controversy in the uniforms worn on the 2012 London Olympic Games by American athletes. The article stated; “The flap over uniforms provides extensive related to the US’s fraught relations with China as well as a sense the US is losing the race for the Chinese.”
You know, in many regards the simple truth is, but we have not made apparel within our country for a while now, nearly all of that textile industry went to Mexico on account of NAFTA, then got outsourced on the Chinese, and in the end, well, they create most in the clothes we buy there now, and the sneakers, even if people say Nike, Adidas, or some other well-known brand. If you own Nike apparel, the running shorts I am wearing at this time, well, they may be manufactured in Singapore, not China, but what; will still be not stated in the USA. Secondly, nothing is wrong with them, are put snug, feel great, and appearance sharp.
Let me ask you something; did these athletes practice in USA Made sportswear – most likely not. In fact, in their life being an athlete, only on rare occasions did they wear any sports attire manufactured in the USA, the good news is I guess because it is an election year, high unemployment numbers, as well as the unions need to elect a democrat, I guess it’s news worthy, as outsourcing of American Jobs generally seems to be a huge pet peeve because of this political season.
Now then, let me ask you another thing; inform me whenever you celebrated your Fourth of July, I bet you’d a BBQ, a really cool unit, which you bought at Lowes or Home Depot and I bet it was not manufactured in America. Nor were the paper plates, plastic cups, or plastic American Flags – the thing is that everything was made in China. Further, who do you think invented fireworks inside the first place – yep, the Chinese some 2,000 years ago in fact. Think about it. All we should give attention to in winning Gold Metals – a lot of them!
